About James Heat

James Heat started his writing journey crafting rhyming picture books for kids and whimsical fantasy adventures for teens—but over the past few years, he’s swapped fairies and talking animals for hackers, space stations, and morally questionable AIs. Moving from bedtime stories to dystopian futures, James now blends sharp technology, high stakes, and a very human heart into his sci-fi worlds.

James Heat is a British author originally from Bristol, now writing from a small corner of the UK surrounded by family, books, and half-finished notepad scribbles.

After years writing rhyming picture books and young adult fantasy adventures, James turned his attention to the genre he’s loved since childhood: science fiction. Inspired by countless hours watching Star Trek, Babylon 5, Firefly, Doctor Who, and Stargate to name a few, James now writes fast-paced, emotionally charged sci-fi stories packed with high-stakes plots and morally tangled characters.

When he’s not writing, James is usually hanging out with his wife and two teenage kids—all of whom he proudly calls his best friends. Family life often blends with creative life, with his daughter now dreaming of co-authoring a book with him—a goal that James considers a dream come true.

His published works include What If All Animals Were Just Like Us, What If All Pigs Were Pirates, and The Cat Who Lost Its Nerve. And judging by the chaotic state of his phone notes, notepads, and digital folders… he’s got at least another 200 stories still waiting to escape.
